Introducing De Zeven

Posted on Wed October 31, 2018 in Things to do at De Zeven.

On the 3rd of October 2018, a Facebook page with the name Lucky Number Zeven appeared – and along with it… a riddle.

This riddle was the first of many subtle clues that would lead to a wonderful prize for one lucky person – and ultimately the reveal of a brand new retreat in the Cape Winelands. The competition reached more than 52 000 people across South Africa, but only one lucky winner walked away with the prize…

So, who won and what did they win?

And the winner is…

Karen Austen cleverly answered all of our riddles correctly and won herself a R10 000 stay for two at the Winelands’s newest guesthouse! Congratulations to Karen Austen and her partner, on being among the first people ever to spend a weekend at our unique spot in the Banhoek Valley.

Introducing De Zeven

De Zeven Guesthouse is tucked away between the mountains in a fairly undiscovered corner of the Banhoek Valley. The views here are breathtaking and while wine estates like Bartinney and Zorgvliet are a stone’s throw away, you barely see any other buildings from this stunning location in the Banhoek Conservancy.

Our Rooms

When you stay at De Zeven you have a choice between the renovated manor house rooms and the newly built barn rooms adjacent to the manor house.

The barn rooms and their en-suite bathrooms are wonderfully spacious, with high ceilings and beautiful views over the courtyard and viewing deck.

The manor rooms each have their own unique layout and characteristics, to suit a variety of tastes and preferences. Whether you want to enjoy your Cabernet Sauvignon in front of a crackling fireplace, your Nespresso overlooking the Franschhoek mountains, or you want to enjoy your Limoenkloof MCC (exclusively for our guests) underneath the stars in your private outside bath – we have the perfect room for you.

Our Spaces

From the cosy courtyard to the large viewing deck and beyond to the hiking trails in the vineyards – our spaces are yours to call home.

Each space is designed with a certain mood or activity in mind, so whether you want to cool off, cosy up, chill out or just breathe in the panoramic mountains views – there’s a space designed exactly for that reason.

Why not lower your stress levels and blood pressure in our sauna with a view and enjoy a refreshing drink and a scrumptious charcuterie board in the hacienda-style courtyard afterwards? Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, why not go for a walk or a cycle on one of the many trails in the Banhoek Valley?

For the romantics, there’s a very special hiking trail that starts outside your door and ends in a picnic, high up on a platform overlooking the entire valley. And of course, for those who just want to relax and enjoy the view of the Franschhoek mountains, there’s the viewing deck, the rim-flow pool, and many bottles of our own fine wine, Limoenkloof.

If this sounds like your kind of Winelands retreat, get in touch with us and you too can become one of the first people ever to stay at De Zeven Guesthouse.
