The Loves of De Zeven

Posted on Fri February 14, 2020 in Stay at De Zeven.

During February the world talks about love more than usual; and we thought it an opportune time to reflect on what our guests - and we - love most about our hidden gem in the Banhoek Valley. De Zeven Guest Lodge is a place of passion and love, where our hearts collide with nature and opportunity. If you haven't visited yet, we hope you will soon as we embark on this never ending journey of discovery.

Things Our Guests Love About De Zeven

Because it's February, we thought it apt to celebrate a few of the things our guests have mentioned loving about staying at De Zeven - and these are the things we love about our slice of paradise as well. With nature enveloping us from all sides, it's no wonder that its treasures play such a big part in our adoration of the valley, as well as our guests'. Here is a list of some of the De Zeven favourites.

1. The Swimming Pool

A relaxing respite at the end of an exciting day in the wine valley of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Banhoek, our pool is always cool and very popular among guests.

2. De Zeven Breakfast

We've heard again and again how our breakfast pleases guests endlessly. Prepared with love and attention to detail, we delight in seeing our guests enjoy their breakfast with views over the valley.

A Cape Town visitor said the following: "We loved our weekend getaway. The staff, facilities and location were amazing. Understated elegance with beautiful art, comfortable furniture, well designed communal spaces, lovely pool and deck. Breakfast was exceptional and the hospitality outstanding."

A guest from Russia wrote: "Everything is perfect! Views are breathtaking! Breakfast is out of this world! Staff is brilliant! We decide to have 1 more night immediately when we came to this heaven! You will never forget this place."

Our chef sources fresh local produce and ingredients to create meals that are satisfying and packed with taste. Although we don't serve lunch or dinner - as we encourage guests to explore the numerous restaurants and wineries in the area - we pride ourselves on our breakfasts that are both nutritious and incredibly tasty. We also offer cheese platters on request.

3. The De Zeven Vibe

Difficult to explain to those who haven't visited, De Zeven has an ambience that makes guests feel at peace. It's a place to breathe, to sit back and reflect, and a place that has been compared to heaven. We are truly thankful for our guests' good energies around our property and its because of this that we can continue to attract happiness and success.

A Switzerland guest wrote: "Fantastic lodge with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, big comfortable rooms and beds, wonderfully and very zen communal spaces, lovely decorations, fantastic staff, delicious breakfast; we wanted to never leave."

A guest from the USA, who visited us in January 2020, wrote the following: "De Zeven is a beautiful guest lodge nestled between Stellenbosch and Franschoek. We chose it based on the reviews, close proximity to both towns and the mountain views. Everything was perfect! The rooms are very comfortable. Ours had a view of the mountains and the pool. Comfortable beds and great bath products as well. The lodge is small but has a small family feel. Staff are very friendly, a delicious breakfast is served each morning with coffee, juices, fresh pastries, and a few made to order selections. Everything we tried was superb. The pool was relaxing each day after wine tasting. You can order a nice bottle of MCC or Rose Chenin Blanc from the bar or bring your own from one of the wineries and they gladly chill it down for you."

4. Attention to Detail

With small touches of creativity and consideration for guests around the lodge, we take extra care with placement of art pieces, objects, books and flowers throughout the property. We love that our guests appreciate this.

A guest from Hungary wrote: “Our stay at DeZeven was beyond words. Gorgeous contemporary design both in the rooms and in the common areas, stunning views no matter where you stand, attentive and friendly staff and a delicious, rich breakfast. We needed some flexibility with our reservations and Siobhan was so helpful in accommodating our requests. We can’t wait to return!”

5. Our Fantastic Neighbours

We've mentioned the wineries around our property often and we always encourage guests to explore and meander to neighbouring farms. Guests have mentioned ease of organising transport - and we can also organise a taxi on your behalf - while some excellent wineries are within walking distance of De Zeven.

To every guest that has showed us love, we thank you. De Zeven is what it is today because of our guests' continuous support and generous input. We look forward to welcoming you back.
